Perez Hilton’s Secret Health Emergency Lands Him in the Hospital
Perez Hilton, a well-known media personality and founder of his celebrity gossip blog in 2004, recently shared an update about his health with his followers. The 47-year-old appeared frail as he revealed that he had been hospitalized for a mysterious health crisis.
Hilton took to his main Instagram page on Saturday to inform his nearly 1 million followers about his recent hospitalization. While he did not specify the cause of his condition, he mentioned that he is now home and plans to share more details soon.
In a series of selfies, Hilton showed himself resting in a hospital bed and wearing a blue-patterned hospital gown. One image depicted him with an oxygen mask over his face, while others captured his mother visiting him. He sat in a chair next to the hospital bed, both he and his mother flashing small smiles toward the camera. 
His mother was seen adjusting a pillow behind him to ensure his comfort. Hilton was also gifted balloons that read “Hang In There… Get Well Soon.” In the caption of the post, he wrote: “March madness indeed! Have I got a story to tell!”
The Daily Mail reached out to Hilton’s representatives for comment but did not receive an immediate response. Later, Hilton uploaded a separate video featuring a montage of short reels. In the video, he filmed himself from the hospital bed and explained that he had moved to Las Vegas three years ago and received the best care at Southern Hills Hospital. 
Hilton gave a special shoutout to the doctors and nurses who were by his side, saying, “I would not be home already if it weren’t for you.” He added that he will provide more details about the health incident in full detail soon. “You are angels, all of you at @southernhillshospitallv!” he wrote in the caption of the clip.
Hilton has plans to give more information about the health incident in a video he will share on his YouTube channel on Monday. Social media users and celebrities quickly responded to his post with well-wishes. Former Playboy bunny Holly Madison wrote, “I hope you are ok,” while singer Bebe Rexha added, “Perez!!!!”
Hilton launched his celebrity gossip blog in 2004 under the name PageSixSixSix.com before changing it to PerezHilton.com. Over the years, he has built relationships with many Hollywood celebrities. In 2021, he admitted to regretting how he covered Britney Spears’ breakdown in 2007. He faced criticism for what some saw as bullying, including calling her an “unfit mother.”
In 2008, Hilton released a shirt design on his website that questioned why Britney Spears hadn’t died instead of Heath Ledger. The shirt featured an image of Ledger from his role in Brokeback Mountain and the words: “Why couldn’t it have been Britney?” 
“I regret a lot or most of what I said about Britney as I’m sure Piers [Morgan] would if he were here about things he’s said in the past,” Hilton said during an interview on Good Morning Britain. He added that he has grown over the years and expressed, “Thankfully, hopefully, many of us get older and wiser.”
Despite his past controversies, Hilton continues to be active in sharing celebrity news and gossip. He also focuses on raising his three children: Mario, 13, Mia, 10, and Mayte, eight, whom he welcomed via surrogate. 
“All kids are mine genetically. Each was born thanks to the generosity of a different surrogate, using eggs from the same anonymous donor,” he wrote in an essay for the HuffPost in 2017. He later added, “While I don’t rule out adoption in the future, for me it was important to have kids with my DNA. My dad passed away when I was 15 and having my children is a way of him living on through them – literally. My family is definitely unconventional and that’s awesome!”
