Harris-Lake Park Elementary School holds annual holiday bazaar

LAKE PARK, Iowa (KCAU)) — The Harris-Lake Park Elementary School held their annual holiday bazaar Saturday at the elementary school in Lake Park.

This is the third year of the bazaar.

Elementary students bring their shopping list and cash and are escorted around the bazaar by a high school student volunteer. The kids pick out the items they want to buy and then get them gift-wrapped to put under their tree.

The shopping items are donated throughout the year. All the money made goes right back into the next years event.

“We at Harris-Lake Park are strong believers in just being connected to our community. Just seeing the excitement on the kids. They put so much thought into the gifts they are going to buy. It’s their thoughtful gifts that people are opening. Just being united as a community is just one of the biggest things.” Said Rebecca Matthiesen, Elementary School Principal at Harris-Lake Park

There was also a “Festival of Trees” fundraiser scheduled for Saturday at the school, but it was postponed because of the weather. It will now be on Sunday night at the elementary school along with a soup and pie fundraiser.
