2. Navia Benefit Solutions Discloses Data Breach Affecting 2.7 Million Individuals
— A massive data breach at Renton-based Navia Benefit Solutions exposed personal information for about 2.7 million benefits participants nationwide, including Washington public employees and school staff. If you use Navia for flexible spending or COBRA benefits, watch for mailed notices and consider using the free credit monitoring and identity protection being offered.
3. Fatal shooting investigation underway near Tukwila
— Renton police are helping investigate a fatal shooting discovered late Saturday morning near South 129th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way South in South King County. Deputies found an adult man with a gunshot wound, but lifesaving efforts failed, and major crimes detectives are now leading the search for suspects and witnesses.
4. Renton teen charged with two murders in Rainier Beach shooting of students
— A 16-year-old from Renton who attends Hazen High School has been charged in connection with a January double homicide near Rainier Beach High School in Seattle. Prosecutors say surveillance footage, school records, and phone data helped identify the teen, with the next court hearing set for Monday at the Clark Child and Family Justice Center.
