Weekly Poll Results: The Best Weather for Skiing

It’s Sunday, and that means it’s time for the latest results from the Bisakimia Weekly Poll. This week, we asked our readers about the best atmospheric conditions for skiing. While the answer might seem obvious, the results revealed some interesting variations in preferences.

Poll Highlights

The poll received a total of 868 votes. The most popular choice was the “Bluebird Bisakimaday,” which earned 349 votes (40% of the total). On the other end of the spectrum, “Sunny and warm temps, corn snow” was the least popular option, with only 48 votes (6% of the total).

Poll Observations

It comes as no surprise that bluebird days took the top spot. These are the ideal conditions for skiing, inspiring everything from essays to movies. However, they do come with their own challenges. When the weather is perfect, so are the crowds, leading to long lines at the lifts and packed parking lots.

The runner-up was the storm day. While visibility can be poor and temperatures can be brutal, these days often attract fewer skiers. This means more space on the slopes and a better overall experience for those who brave the elements.

Third place went to the “who cares” crowd. For some skiers, the forecast doesn’t matter. They prefer to ignore the weather, hop in the car, and head to the mountain. Lowered expectations can make the experience even better, especially when finding hidden pockets of snow in the trees.

The spring day category didn’t fare as well. Our hypothesis is that this is due to the current heat dome affecting much of the West. With May-like temperatures in March, many skiers are not eager to think about slush and sun. Corn snow is great for ending the season, but not so much for starting it.

What We Could’ve Done Better

While the poll ran smoothly, the turnout wasn’t as high as we hoped. Interest in skiing tends to wane during this time of year, and the heat dome may have contributed to this. However, the ski season isn’t over yet—April could bring a series of heavy storms, so don’t put away your skis just yet.
