Severe Weather Alert for Sunday and Monday
A severe weather event is expected to impact the area late Sunday, particularly northwest of Philadelphia. The storm system will bring heavy rain, which could lead to localized flooding. The peak risk for these storms is anticipated from Sunday evening through approximately 10 p.m.
The main threats associated with the storms include damaging wind gusts, large hail, heavy rainfall, and brief spin-up tornadoes. However, the tornado threat remains relatively low.
Rain and lingering storms are expected to continue through mid-morning on Monday, which may result in a wet and slower morning commute. Temperatures on Monday will drop by about 20 degrees compared to Sunday, which aligns with typical conditions for this time of year.

A NEXT Weather Alert has been issued for severe weather threats that will persist through Monday morning. A clipper-type system is expected to move across the region, bringing a strong cold front.
The atmosphere will be unstable and warm, with a secondary low pressure system developing along the front as it moves through the area. This combination will create enough lift to produce severe storms.
Another wave of storms is expected to move through overnight and into the morning commute. Any storm could bring heavy rain, large hail, damaging wind gusts, and isolated tornadoes. Some strong to severe storms may develop, potentially causing heavy rain, hail, and isolated damaging winds.
Philadelphia and areas north and west of the city are under a Level 2 risk for severe weather, while much of South Jersey is under a Level 1 risk.
After the cold front passes, temperatures will drop to the low 50s on Monday, with breezy conditions and clearing skies by the afternoon.
Phillies Home Opener Forecast
The Philadelphia Phillies will begin their season on Thursday against the Texas Rangers. Fans can expect mostly cloudy skies and mild temperatures in the mid-60s at the start of the game.
By the final out, the weather is expected to be cloudy with temperatures near 60 degrees. Rain is possible later that night, with southwest winds ranging from 10 to 15 mph.
