Blood Drives Coming to Northeast Ohio
Severe Winter Storms Disrupt Blood Supply Efforts
Recent winter storms have significantly impacted the ongoing efforts to replenish the blood supply, according to the American Red Cross. With a critical shortage of blood in many regions, the organization is urging donors of all blood types to step forward and schedule a donation as soon as possible.
The Red Cross has reported that in the Northern Ohio Region alone, 41 blood drives have been canceled since January 1st, resulting in nearly 1,200 blood products going uncollected. This disruption has made it even more urgent for individuals to contribute to the cause.
How to Donate Blood or Platelets
To make an appointment for a blood or platelet donation, individuals can use the Blood Donor app, visit RedCrossBlood.org, or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). As a token of appreciation, those who donate between now and February 28 will receive a $20 e-gift card to a merchant of their choice.
