A Celebration of Community and Service

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The annual Giving Your Best banquet took place Tuesday night at the First Baptist Church, bringing together community members who have made significant contributions through volunteerism and service. This year’s event honored 12 individuals who were recognized for their outstanding efforts in making a positive impact within the CSRA region.

The Giving Your Best program, which has been running for over three decades, aims to spotlight everyday heroes who dedicate their time and energy to helping others. It serves as a reminder that even small acts of kindness can lead to meaningful change when done consistently and with heart.

Melissa Hancock, one of the 2025 honorees, shared her feelings about being recognized. She expressed how meaningful it was to be part of such a group of dedicated individuals.

“I feel like I’m in great company because so many times, you can feel like you’re out on the island working right by your little self doing your best, but maybe feeling alone,” she said. “And when we come together you can see that people are working, people are coming together across the state of Georgia and they all have a heart to help others and pour into others and it’s good to have that community to come together to say we have each others back and you’re not alone.”

Honoring Everyday Heroes

The event provided a platform for these individuals to be celebrated not only for their actions but also for the inspiration they bring to others. Each honoree has demonstrated a commitment to improving the lives of those around them, whether through mentoring, organizing community events, or providing essential services to those in need.

Organizers of the event emphasized that the recognition is not just about individual achievements but also about fostering a sense of unity and support within the community. They believe that by highlighting these stories, more people will be encouraged to get involved and make a difference in their own ways.

How to Get Involved

For those interested in recognizing someone who has made a positive impact, there is an opportunity to nominate individuals for the Giving Your Best Award. This process allows community members to share the stories of those who may not always receive the attention they deserve.

The event was hosted by WJBF’s own Jennie Montgomery and Brad Means, who brought their expertise and enthusiasm to the evening. Their presence added a professional touch to the celebration, ensuring that the message of gratitude and appreciation was clearly conveyed.
