Ronan Keating Calls Boyzone Tour ‘Unhealthy’ After Toxic Reunion Shows
Boyzone’s Final Farewell: A Bittersweet Reunion
Ronan Keating, the lead singer of the iconic Irish pop group Boyzone, has recently shared some revealing insights about the band’s upcoming reunion and their decision to say goodbye for good. In an interview on Tracks Of My Years, Ronan emphasized that the two shows scheduled for June at London’s Emirates Stadium will be their last, calling any future tours “incredibly unhealthy” for the members.
Boyzone is set to reunite for two special performances in June, marking their first time performing together since their 2019 London Palladium run. This event, titled Two For The Road: Live At Emirates Stadium, is expected to be a grand finale for the group, with no plans for further touring or new music.

A Toxic Past
Ronan reflected on the band’s previous farewell tour, which he described as a “toxic environment.” He recalled a significant fallout during the Tokyo leg of the tour, where the members ended up taking different planes home. “We met up a week later in London to do the Palladium, the five nights that we did, the final shows, or as we thought were the final shows,” he said.
He also mentioned that for the first time in their careers, the band members had separate dressing rooms during the Palladium performances. “It’s our way of writing the final chapter, saying goodbye,” Ronan said. “There are offers coming in left, right and centre to go to Asia, to go into Europe. It’s a blanket no. And this is it.”

A Difficult Decision
Ronan explained that the decision to end the band was not an easy one. “We feel very similar about the fact we do not want to go on tour again,” he said. “It’s a difficult environment.” He added that the band would need to focus on rebuilding themselves individually after the reunion.
Despite the challenges, Ronan expressed a sense of nostalgia about the upcoming shows. “It’s kind of nice that we’re coming back to do this,” he said. “This is it.” The two performances will serve as a celebration of the band’s legacy, with a mix of nostalgia, fireworks, and emotional moments.
A Legacy of Music
Formed in 1993, Boyzone became one of the most successful boy bands in British music history. The group, consisting of Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch, Mikey Graham, and the late Stephen Gately, achieved six UK number one singles and five UK number one albums.
The band initially broke up in 2000, with members pursuing solo careers. They reunited in 2007 but faced internal conflicts that led to another split. Their 2019 farewell tour, Thank You And Goodnight, was seen as a final chapter before their latest reunion.

Recent Reunions and Projects
In recent years, the band has made appearances to promote their documentary series, Boyzone: No Matter What, which explored their journey from fame to break-up. Earlier this year, they participated in the BBC One special Ronan and Friends: A New Year’s Eve Party.
The upcoming shows in June will be a culmination of their legacy, offering fans a chance to witness the band one last time. With no plans for further tours, the performances are expected to be a fitting end to a storied career.
The Final Chapter
As the band prepares for their final performance, there is a mix of excitement and sadness among fans. Ronan emphasized that the shows will be “spectacular,” with “fireworks and magic.” While there may be tears, the band aims to go out on a high note.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the June events, hoping for a memorable and emotional farewell. Whether the past tensions resurface remains to be seen, but for now, the focus is on celebrating the music and memories that have defined Boyzone over the years.
