Celebrity SAS’s Ben Cohen Shares Daughter’s Heart Condition Diagnosis
Ben Cohen, the former rugby player and celebrity from “SAS: Who Dares Wins,” has opened up about a challenging chapter in his family’s life. His 17-year-old daughter, Isabelle, is currently undergoing treatment for a heart condition that requires the installation of a pacemaker. The revelation comes as part of an emotional interview set to air on the show, where Cohen reflects on the past 18 months as “horrendous.”
During the interview, Cohen discusses the emotional toll of watching his daughter go through this medical procedure. “It’s been horrendous. Izzy is having a pacemaker fitted and it’s a lot to process,” he says. While he doesn’t specify the exact nature of her condition, a pacemaker is a small device that delivers electrical pulses to the heart to ensure it beats regularly and at an appropriate rate.
Cohen also speaks about the importance of being a strong presence for his children during difficult times. “You be strong for your daughter, you have to be that pillar of strength. That’s when the self-neglect comes in because you prioritise other things before yourself,” he explains.
The former athlete has three children: twins Isabelle and Harriet from his marriage to Abby Cohen, which lasted 13 years, and Milena, who is nine years old, from his relationship with Kristina Rihanoff. In addition to his current challenges, Cohen also recalls the profound impact of losing his father, Peter, in 2000. Peter passed away from a blood clot a month after being assaulted in his own nightclub in Northampton while trying to stop a fight. The three men involved were later sentenced for violent disorder.
In September, reports surfaced that Cohen and Rihanoff are rekindling their relationship after a brief separation. The couple, who had been together for 12 years and became engaged in 2022, reportedly faced difficulties due to financial issues. However, they were seen together at a London awards ceremony six months after their split, with Rihanoff visibly close to Cohen.
“They’ve decided to give things another go. They looked very much in love,” a source told a publication. At the time, The Standard reached out to Cohen and Rihanoff’s representatives for comment.
Cohen and Rihanoff first met on “Strictly Come Dancing” in 2013, leading to speculation that the show’s so-called curse might have contributed to Cohen’s separation from his first wife, Abby. Despite these rumors, Cohen has consistently denied that his decision to leave Abby was influenced by his relationship with Rihanoff.
