Savannah Guthrie Shares Update on Her Health After Vocal Surgery
Savannah Guthrie, the co-host of the Today show, has shared an update on her health following a recent vocal surgery. The 54-year-old mother of two took a break from the NBC program last month to undergo the procedure on her vocal cords. On Monday, she took to Instagram to confirm that she is recovering and will be returning soon.
In a new post, Guthrie shared a selfie with a whiteboard that read, “All good! Thanks for prayers and love!” She captioned the photo with, “See you soon!” Her fans were quick to respond with well-wishes and positive messages.

Guthrie announced her hiatus from the Today show last month so she could have the surgery. While her return date is not yet known, she revealed during the December 19 episode that she has nodules on her vocal cords and a polyp that need to be removed. She also mentioned that she will need to be on vocal rest and completely silent in the days following the procedure.
Addressing her viewers, Guthrie explained, “Some of you have noticed that my voice has been very scratchy and started to crack a little bit. Well, I have found out what it is. I have vocal nodules and I also have a polyp. It’s not a big, big deal, but I am going to have to have a surgery in the new year and be off for a couple of weeks, so this is my last day for a little while.”
She expressed excitement about finally receiving a diagnosis after years of struggling to understand what was wrong. “This has been going on for years, honestly, so to have a solution,” she said.
Support from Colleagues
Today show co-star Sheinelle Jones shared her own experience with similar surgery. She told the other presenters, “You guys know, I had the same thing. The surgery is in and out, no big deal. The silver lining is permission to be still. The house gets quiet. The kids want to help you out.”
Jones then presented Guthrie with a whiteboard to help her communicate while her voice was out of order. Craig Melvin added, “We wish you healing and recovery.”
