NAACP to host disability awareness information fair Dec. 13
The Edwardsville Branch NAACP Health Committee will host a Community International Day of Persons with Disabilities Information Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Edwardsville Public Library, 112 Kansas St.. This free public event offers local resources and wellness information from providers committed to providing services for individuals with disabilities and improving community health.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is observed annually in December. Established by the United Nations in 1992 to promote the rights and well-being of people with disabilities in all aspects of society and development, it also seeks to increase awareness of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and to foster a more inclusive and accessible world for everyone.
“This Fair empowers our neighbors with knowledge, access, and support. We invite everyone in Edwardsville, Glen Carbon, and surrounding areas to join us in making disability awareness and services available a shared priority,” said Patrica Lowe, chair of the Health Affairs Committee.
Lowe is a nursing administrator with Beverly Farm Health Center in Godfrey, Illinois, and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Bryant & Stratton College in New York.
