Connect the Dots celebrates reopening of Portland Public Library
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Connect the Dots Louisville celebrated the reopening of the Portland Branch of the Louisville Public Library on Sunday.
Connect the Dots is a free family program that helps those suffering from blindness.
The program is part of The Dot Experience, a series of events coming to a number of libraries across Louisville in 2026 with the goal of providing education and insight into the world of blindness and low vision.
As a part of the new renovations, the Portland Library now has a section featuring equipment that allows attendees to showcase their artistic ability.
“There was this idea as a community space, Libraries can provide access to things like 3D printers, laser cutters, laser engravers, dye cutters, things that are expensive and have a high cost,” said program coordinator Stephani Carter. “So they are not accessible to most people. By putting them in a public library we open we open that accessibility so it fits into our whole mission of being accessible and also being a community space for the whole library.”
The Dot Experience is currently under construction and scheduled to open in October 2026.
