Family says SSgt. Wolfe’s recovery exceeding expectations

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) — The West Virginia National Guard (WVNG) shared a video update on the progress of SSgt. Andrew Wolfe on Saturday.

WVNG Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Jim Seward and his wife recorded a video with Wolfe’s mother, Melody Wolfe, to thank everyone for their support as Wolfe recovers from his injuries. They also thanked everyone who showed support for the family of Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, who passed away from injuries sustained in the same shooting incident that injured Wolfe.

“Our heartfelt thanks to President Trump, Governor Morrisey, senior civilian and military leaders in federal and state service, and private citizens across the nation for their support and continued prayers for SSgt Wolfe as well as the Beckstrom and Wolfe families,” WVNG said in a Facebook post.

WVNG said that SSgt. Wolfe’s recovery has “considerably exceeded his medical team’s expectations.”

Melody said in the video that Andrew is off sedation and is now more alert.

Wolfe’s parents continue to ask everyone to pray for their family, the family of Spc. Beckstrom and all other National Guardsmen still in D.C.
