Storm Team 3: Rain continues, colder air next week

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Rain tapers off some before another round moves in for most of us Sunday.

The rain has continued for most of Saturday, with areas of steady to heavy rain embedded within a large swath of light rain. Drier air will bring a temporary end to the widespread rain overnight tonight into Sunday.

Another disturbance will help bring a surge of moisture and another round of steady rain to the area on Sunday. The heaviest and most persistent rain will fall south of I-16, but the entire area will have at least a portion of the day washed out.

Rain chances will drop off sharply by the evening as dry air settles back in. A cold front makes its way through the area by Monday, bringing a final opportunity for showers Monday morning. Some peeks of sun return, but the bigger changes arrive later on.

Cold air will make a return for Tuesday, with a widespread freeze expected for both Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Sunshine will be around both days, but Tuesday itself will be chilly with highs only in the 50s. A warm-up takes place for the middle to end of the week ahead of another cold front.
