Photos: SD Humane Society brings in over 2 dozen at-risk kittens from Stockton shelter
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego Humane Society (SDHS) welcomed 29 at-risk kittens to its San Diego Campuses on Thursday.
The kittens were transferred from the Stockton Animal Shelter to relieve overcrowding and support disease management at the Northern California shelter, SDHS announced in a press release.
The kittens are considered at-risk, with some having upper respiratory infections, while others are ringworm positive and going through differant stages of treatment. Ten of the kittens will stay at the Oceanside Campus, and the remaining 19 were moved to the San Diego location.
“We’re glad we can support Stockton by transferring in some of their cats to help ease immediate overcrowding and disease concerns,” said Dr. Gary Weitzman, president and CEO of SDHS, via a press release.
According to the press release, both SoCal campuses are prepared to provide medical care, and all of the kittens will continue to receive assistance until they are medically cleared for adoption.
