Six days of turbulent weather forecast across Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia is expected to see six consecutive days of turbulent weather, with heavy rainfall, flash floods, and strong winds forecast across large parts of the Kingdom, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

The weather system began earlier this week and is set to impact multiple regions, with the Makkah region projected to experience the most severe conditions. Forecasts indicate moderate to heavy rainfall that may lead to flash floods, hail, and dust-raising downdraft winds. According to Saudi Gazette, affected areas within the Makkah region include Makkah, Jeddah, Al-Kamil, Al-Jumum, Taif, Maysan, Adham, Rabigh, Khulais, Buhra, Al-Lith, Al-Qunfudhah, Al-Ardiyat, Turbah, Al-Muwaih, and Al-Khurmah.
Riyadh and other regions affected
Moderate rainfall is also expected across the Riyadh region, including Al-Dawadmi, Afif, Al-Zulfi, Al-Majma’ah, Al-Ghat, Shaqra, Thadiq, and Rumah. The NCM said several other regions — including Tabuk, Madinah, Al-Jouf, the Northern Borders, Hail, Qassim, the Eastern Province, and Al-Baha — may experience moderate to heavy rainfall, with the risk of flash floods, hail, and strong downward winds. Meanwhile, the Asir and Jazan regions are forecast to receive lighter but persistent moderate rainfall during the same period.
Civil Defence issues safety warnings
In response to the forecast, the General Directorate of Civil Defence urged residents to remain vigilant and follow safety instructions. Authorities advised the public to stay in safe areas, avoid valleys and flood-prone locations, and refrain from swimming in watercourses. Residents were also encouraged to monitor official government platforms and media channels for real-time updates as weather conditions evolve.
Recent weather alerts
The warning follows a similar weather alert issued in recent weeks, when large parts of Saudi Arabia were placed on alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hail, and possible flash floods. During that period, downburst winds were forecast to reach speeds of 60 kilometres per hour or more, according to Gulf News. Authorities continue to stress preparedness as the Kingdom enters a period of heightened weather volatility.
