Gloomy weekend skies in Central Ohio, light wintry mix before next week

FORECAST DISCUSSION:

Good Saturday evening!

Temperatures barely made it above freezing today with very little sun in our skies. We’ll try to get a little warmer by the end of the weekend, but with a higher chance of winter weather.

Skies remain near overcast through the remainder of tonight and most of tomorrow. For tonight, we’re looking at some light misting and light flurries to work through. With the clouds, we don’t cool off too much as we fall just under 30 degrees.

Sunday is mostly dry, but places north of I-70 could see a light wintry mix in the middle of the day. It is a start with rain and snow and then a tight change over to some snow showers. Accumulations are really light with at most reaching a few tenths of an inch.

We’re back on the cooler side for Monday with a mix of sunshine and clouds. Tuesday tries to push higher above the freezing line with clouds filling back in. Our next system will be right around the corner by the middle of next week.

Some really cold rain works in on Wednesday with temperatures reaching above 40. That will be the first time we see 40 degrees or higher this month. Precipitation chances taper for the remainder of the week and gradually change over to snow.

We have a wintry mix with temperatures barely above freezing again on Thursday. We’re below freezing on Friday with a few flurries. To start the weekend, we’re dry, but the day will barely break above 20 degrees.
