High winds and flood risk prompt weather warning across Ireland
A nationwide Status Yellow weather warning has been issued for all 26 counties ahead of what is expected to be a wet and blustery day on Tuesday.
Met Éireann, announcing the alert on Sunday morning, said strong and gusty southerly winds will sweep across the country from the early hours of Tuesday and persist into the evening.
Coastal counties are expected to bear the brunt, with the potential for gale-force winds between 3am and 9pm.
The forecaster also noted an elevated risk of coastal flooding due to the arrival of very high spring tides.
Met Éireann warned of difficult travel conditions, flooding in low-lying coastal areas, wave overtopping, fallen debris and displaced loose objects.
Outdoor events may also face disruption.

In addition to the wind warning, a separate Status Yellow rain warning has been issued for Carlow, Cork, Kerry, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford.
Heavy rainfallis expected from 9pm on Monday through to 9am on Tuesday, bringing the risk of localised flooding and hazardous driving conditions.
Across the border, a Status Yellow rainfall warning came into force for all six counties in Northern Ireland at 8am on Sunday and will remain active until 3pm.
Despite the widespread alerts, weather analyst Alan O’Reilly offered some reassurance about Tuesday’s system.
Posting on X, he said current model runs show ‘nothing too severe’, though one later update indicated the possibility of winds exceeding 130km/h along parts of the west coast.
If a storm is officially named during this spell of unsettled weather, it will be called Storm Bram, the second named system of the season following Storm Amy in early October.
