Gadsden State Hits Enrollment Milestone
Gadsden State Community College has seen a significant increase in student enrollment this fall, marking the highest number of students since 2013. According to a recent announcement, the college has enrolled 5,568 students for the current term.
“This growth is a direct result of the collective effort of our faculty, staff, and leadership across all campuses,” said Alan Smith, president of Gadsden State, in the release. “It shows that when we work together to provide opportunity, support, and access, our communities respond. We’re proud to see more students choosing Gadsden State to begin or continue their educational journey.”
The rise in enrollment highlights the college’s dedication to student success through innovative programs and strategic recruitment and retention efforts. Smith emphasized that the increase also reflects the affordability and relevance of Gadsden State’s education and workforce training, which prepare students for successful and well-paying careers.
“I am extremely appreciative of the hard work and collective effort of our employees and our community partners who continue to believe in and support our mission,” he added.
Over the past year, Gadsden State has introduced several key initiatives aimed at strengthening enrollment. These include:
- Expanded workforce training programs
- Increased outreach to high school students through dual enrollment opportunities
- Enhanced support for adult learners
- Improved marketing and communications strategies to reach prospective students and promote the opportunities available across its five campuses in East Alabama
Andy Green, dean of student services, noted that the enrollment numbers reflect both new and returning students who recognize the value of a Gadsden State education. He highlighted the efforts of the enrollment team, advisers, and faculty members who have worked tirelessly to make the process seamless—from application to orientation to classroom success.
“Every department has played a part in helping students see that Gadsden State is not only affordable and accessible, but also a pathway to great futures,” Green said.
