Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is set to host its first-ever safety summit for parents and students on Tuesday evening. The event will take place at E.E. Waddell High School from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., offering a unique opportunity for families and community members to come together and focus on the critical issue of school safety and student wellbeing.
The two-hour summit is designed to foster open dialogue and collaboration between educators, parents, and local organizations. Attendees can expect a variety of activities, including a panel discussion featuring experts in education, mental health, and public safety. This interactive session will provide insights into best practices for creating a secure and supportive learning environment.
In addition to the panel discussion, the event will feature information booths and resources from various community organizations. These resources will include practical tools such as gun locks, which are essential for promoting firearm safety in homes. The summit comes at a time when many schools across the country are reevaluating their approaches to safety and student support.
