Recognizing Outstanding Students in Tulare County
In Tulare County, several students have been recognized for their exceptional demonstration of respect and character. These young individuals serve as role models within their schools and communities, showcasing the values that make them stand out.
Elisa De Leon – Roosevelt Elementary School
Elisa De Leon, an 8th grader at Roosevelt Elementary School in Lindsay, has been praised for her consistent display of respect. Her nominator, Amanda Robles, highlighted how Elisa treats others with courtesy and kindness, always striving to make those around her feel included. As a member of the Learning Community Tech Team, she contributes innovative ideas and supports her peers. Elisa’s positive communication and empathy make her a natural leader, often assisting classmates even when she is not directly asked. Her classmates describe her as intelligent and approachable, making her a trusted source of support when teachers are unavailable.

Denise Medina – Frank Kohn Elementary School
Denise Medina, a 5th grader at Frank Kohn Elementary School in Tulare, is known for her maturity and courteous nature. Mrs. Heller, her nominator, described Denise as wise beyond her years, always asking questions respectfully to help others succeed. Her peers recognize her as a positive influence, with one student noting that she helps keep him accountable in a kind way. Denise consistently lives by the Golden Rule, treating others with kindness and respect. Ivan Orozco – Washington Elementary School
Ivan Orozco, a 7th grader at Washington Elementary School in Lindsay, is an exceptional learner who shows respect towards others. Sylvia Carmona, his nominator, shared a recent example where Ivan helped a classmate with a broken foot by guiding him through the hallways. His respectful behavior towards peers and adults makes him a valuable member of the classroom community.

Brycen DeAzevedo – Liberty Elementary School
Brycen DeAzevedo, an 8th grader at Liberty Elementary School in Tulare, is known for his extreme respect towards everyone he encounters. Robert Aldaco, his nominator, noted that Brycen is always there to help someone having a bad day, greeting teachers and staff with kindness. He makes people feel good about themselves, whether they are younger students, peers, or school staff. Brycen’s humility and willingness to assist those with disabilities make him a true embodiment of Lion Pride.

Karen Meza Lopez – Houston Elementary School
Karen Meza Lopez, a 4th grader at Houston Elementary School in Visalia, is an outstanding student who embodies the Pillar of Respect. Henryallen Ralston, her nominator, praised her kindness and consideration towards everyone in her fourth-grade class. Karen listens carefully to her classmates and teachers, valuing their opinions even when she has a different perspective. Her positive attitude and respectful actions make her a wonderful representative of the most respectful student in Tulare County.

Cage Young – Tulare Western High School
Cage Young, a 9th grader at Tulare Western High School in Tulare, stands out for his intelligence, kindness, and respect for everyone around him. Jackie Robinson, a former teacher from Palo Verde Union School, highlighted Cage’s academic dedication and willingness to help classmates struggling with their studies. He explains concepts patiently and encourages others to keep trying when challenges arise. Teachers and peers appreciate his respectful attitude, as he listens carefully, uses polite words, and treats everyone fairly. His combination of academic talent and genuine care for others makes him a positive role model and a friend who lifts people up.
