Kate Garraway’s Life-Changing Diagnosis Quest
Kate Garraway has shared that she is currently undergoing evaluation for a condition that could significantly impact her life, following the completion of filming for Celebrity Traitors. The 58-year-old TV presenter became interested in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) after a conversation with fellow contestant Cat Burns, 25. ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by difficulties with focus, hyperactivity, and impulsive behavior.
Cat Burns has openly discussed her own experiences with ADHD, which she was diagnosed with in 2021, and later with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in 2023. Kate has now spoken about her family’s medical history, which includes both ADHD and autism, and she is currently being assessed for ADHD. According to reports from The Sun on Sunday, she believes it is clear she has the condition.
She said: “Talking to people like Cat about their music and their life — she’s autistic and ADHD, and I’ve got that in my family. And actually, I’m in the process of an ADHD diagnosis myself. In fact, I think it’s pretty clear I am. So it’s fascinating to see how it manifested for her.”
Kate’s revelation comes after she was banished by the other contestants on last Thursday’s episode of Celebrity Traitors, narrowly missing out on the grand finale. During a roundtable discussion, retired English rugby player Joe Marler criticized her for not being her usual sharp “broadcaster” self and instead appearing “ditzy.” After hearing Marler’s comments, Kate initiated a discussion challenging anyone who thought she might be a traitor, and she was soon banished from the game.
The BBC series Celebrity Traitors wrapped filming at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands in May, with the final episode scheduled to air on Thursday, November 6. In her parting speech, Kate honored her late husband Derek Draper, who passed away in January 2023 after a battle with long Covid. She said he “would’ve absolutely loved” seeing her take on the role of uncovering traitors on the show.
She added: “I’ve had a lot of years of being very serious and very sad, and you’ve all allowed me to play the most amazing game, be silly and have fun.”
Over the weekend, Kate also revealed which celebrity refused to join the Celebrity Traitors WhatsApp group chat, amid rumors of behind-the-scenes drama. Just five celebrities remain for the finale, with Alan Carr and Cat Burns as the traitors. The surviving faithfuls are Nick Mohammed, David Olusoga, and Joe Marler, who has been identified as a strong contender to win.
