Simple Air Fryer Salmon
A Healthy and Delicious Weight Watchers Zero Point Air Fryer Salmon Recipe
Centering meals around healthy proteins is a crucial part of my success on the Weight Watchers program, whether I’m maintaining my weight or working to lose it. Salmon is one of those foods that’s low in saturated fat and high in essential vitamins, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to eat well while keeping track of their points.
This recipe uses zero-point proteins, which are some of my favorites. While I often use boneless, skinless chicken breast, it’s always nice to switch things up. Zero-point foods allow me to enjoy other meals or find balance if I’ve used up my Weight Watchers points on other dishes.
What Is Weight Watchers?
If you’re starting a new weight loss program or making significant changes to your diet, it’s important to consult with a doctor or physician about any personal health concerns. It’s also a good idea to have your blood sugar levels, blood pressure, and hormones checked during a physical before and while on the WW program.
New to Weight Watchers? Also known as WW, this program uses a point system to track and help individuals lose weight. When you sign up, you take an assessment that assigns you a daily point value and a weekly allowance. You can carry over 4 points from one day to the next, which can be very helpful when you need more points for a particular meal.
I have been on Weight Watchers since 2011. Over the years, the program has evolved through various versions, including Points Plus Value, WW Smartpoints, and different color plans like the blue, green, and purple plans. The latest version is the Weight Watchers Simplified plan, launched in November 2022, which is similar to previous plans like WW Smartpoints but with some updated features.
No matter the specific plan, the goal remains the same: to teach healthy eating habits. I’ve reached my lifetime goal weight multiple times but have sometimes stopped tracking, leading to weight gain. However, you can remain a lifetime member and continue working toward your goals.
Air Fryer Salmon Ingredients
To make this recipe, you’ll need:
- Salmon fillet
- Salmon rub (you can use a homemade version, but for convenience, I used Trader Joe’s new salmon rub, which had a nice hint of smoke without being overpowering)

What Type of Salmon to Use
I prefer using frozen salmon fillets because they’re easy to store in the freezer and can be pulled out one at a time to defrost. I usually buy mine from Omaha Steaks, Trader Joe’s, or Amazon. You can also buy fresh salmon fillets at the grocery store or catch your own during the season.
How to Make Salmon in an Air Fryer
Start with thawed or fresh salmon and keep the skin on the fillet. Spray the air fryer basket or racks with a nonstick spray.

Place the salmon fillet or fillets on the basket or rack, skin side down. Sprinkle with your chosen seasonings and set the air fryer to the fish setting or 400 degrees. You can adjust the seasoning to your preference.

Cook for 8 to 10 minutes at 400 degrees or according to your air fryer’s fish setting. If your air fryer doesn’t have a built-in probe, use a food thermometer to check that the salmon reaches 145 degrees.
Remove and serve!
How to Make Frozen Air Fryer Salmon
If using frozen salmon, cook the fillet at 390 degrees for 5-7 minutes. Then open the air fryer, season, and cook for another 8-10 minutes at 400 degrees.
Tips for Cooking Salmon in an Air Fryer
