Ceremony Marks Opening of New Pitt Co. Behavioral Urgent Care

New Behavioral Urgent Care Facility Opens in Pitt County

A new behavioral urgent health care facility is set to open its doors in Pitt County, offering critical mental health services to individuals in need. The facility, located on Stantonsburg Road, will be available for patients starting next Monday, October 27th.

The opening was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony today, attended by representatives from Integrated Family Services, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, and Trillium Health Resources. This collaboration marks an important step in addressing the growing demand for mental health care in the region.

What the Facility Offers

The facility is designed to provide 24/7 rapid, short-term stabilization for children and adults aged four and older who are experiencing a mental health crisis. This includes individuals with diagnoses related to mental health, substance use, and intellectual or developmental disorders.

According to Natasha Holley, CEO of Integrated Family Services, the goal of the center is to ensure that patients receive immediate care and are connected to the appropriate resources. “The idea is you come here and get stabilized; you are linked to the services you need so that you won’t fall through the crack,” Holley explained. “We even have a 5-day follow-up, where the case manager follows up to make sure the plan they come up with is actually working.”

This follow-up process helps ensure that patients continue to receive support after their initial visit, reducing the risk of relapse or further crisis.

A Better Alternative to Hospital Emergency Departments

The new facility serves as an alternative to community hospital emergency departments, providing a more appropriate setting for mental health care. By offering specialized services tailored to mental health crises, the center aims to reduce the burden on hospitals while ensuring that patients receive timely and effective treatment.

This initiative aligns with broader efforts to improve mental health care access and support across the state. Earlier this month, Governor Josh Stein visited Integrated Family Services and emphasized the importance of better mental health resources in enhancing public safety. His advocacy came after he signed Iryna’s Law, which aims to strengthen mental health services and prevent crises.

Expanding Access to Mental Health Services

The opening of this facility represents a significant step forward in expanding access to mental health care in Pitt County. With 24/7 availability and a focus on stabilization and follow-up care, the center is expected to serve as a vital resource for individuals and families facing mental health challenges.

As the need for mental health services continues to grow, initiatives like this one highlight the importance of community-based solutions that prioritize early intervention and long-term support. The collaboration between Integrated Family Services, government agencies, and local health organizations demonstrates a shared commitment to improving the well-being of residents in the area.

This new center is not just a place for crisis care—it is a model for how communities can work together to build a more resilient and supportive mental health system.
