Scott described the condition as an “infection,” while a Dodgers official referred to it as a “cyst.” Despite the nature of the problem, Scott has stated that he is back to throwing and hopes to rejoin the team for the World Series. This development comes after the Dodgers previously disclosed that Scott had undergone a “lower-body abscess procedure.” The surgery resulted in his removal from the NLDS roster before he could make a single appearance in the postseason.

Additionally, Scott was also left off the NLCS roster against the Milwaukee Brewers due to the same issue. This has left the 2024 All-Star without the opportunity to contribute during these crucial games.

Struggles on the Mound

This season has not been kind to Scott. He posted a 4.74 ERA with an MLB-leading 10 blown saves over 61 appearances for the Dodgers. His struggles have even led to fans at Dodger Stadium booing him multiple times during home games. These challenges have raised questions about his role on the team, especially during the playoffs.

However, the Dodgers have found a reliable replacement in Roki Sasaki, who has taken over as the team’s ninth-inning man for the playoffs. Sasaki has been effective in high-pressure situations, which has allowed the team to rely on him in critical moments.
