Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation Hosts Annual Options Fair

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation is set to host its annual Options Fair on Thursday, offering eighth-grade students a unique opportunity to explore various high school programs that go beyond the traditional educational path.

The fair is designed to help students discover innovative learning options tailored to their interests and future goals. These programs provide a more specialized approach to education, allowing students to dive deeper into specific areas of study or career paths.

Jason Woebkenberg, the EVSC Chief Communication Officer, emphasized the importance of the event. “We wanted to make sure students have a number of opportunities to check out, to investigate, to see if that is something that will be really successful, allowing them to be successful during their high school years,” he said.

A Variety of Programs to Explore

Students attending the fair will have the chance to learn about several distinct programs offered by the school corporation. Each program has its own focus and structure, catering to different student needs and aspirations.

Here are some of the programs available:

• Academy of Future Educators: Presentations at 5:50 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
• Academy of Science & Medicine (ASM): Presentations at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
• Early College High School: Presentations at 6:10 p.m. and 6:50 p.m.
• EVSC Virtual Academy: Presentations at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
• JROTC: Presentations at 5:30 p.m. and 6:10 p.m.
• New Tech Institute High School: Presentations at 6:10 p.m. and 7:10 p.m.
• Randall T. Shepard Leadership & Law Academy: Presentations at 5:50 p.m. and 6:50 p.m.
• Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center: Presentations at 5:50 p.m. and 7:10 p.m.

Interactive Experience for Students

In addition to presentations, students will have the opportunity to speak with current participants in each program. This allows prospective students to gain firsthand insights into what each program entails and whether it aligns with their personal and academic goals.
